This morning we visited the Santa Barbara Botanic Gardens. It’s small as botanic gardens go, but it highlights the native plants that are indigenous to the local area. The highlight of the walk through the gardens is the Redwood Grove. These trees, planted in the 1930s, are now growing into huge specimens that will soon rival the ones in Muir Woods.
After our trek through the garden we visited the pier at the Santa Barbara beach, explored the souvenir shops, and visited the 1917 Allan Hershell Carousel in Chase Park, across from the pier. It’s a 3-abreast design and one of only three produced by the Hershell Company.
